Here are some of the highlights of the street party: the rest of the Paul's photos are now on the Gallery page.
The party was opened by the Rev. Henry Morris, vicar of Madeley, who is seen here chatting to Kate.
Kate had put a lot of work into her 'archaeology and history' display, which (thanks to display boards loaned by Pete and Dawn) proved a very popular attraction and talking point.
Entertainment included egg-and-spoon races for children...
...and for adults...
...there was also a three-legged race, which was won in allegedly controversial circumstances by Paul and Dan. There were also a number of games generously provided by Grant, who is seen here at a moment of crucial concentration during an epic game of Jenga.
There was also a very amusing game of musical chairs...
...meanwhile BBC Radio Shropshire dropped in, and spoke to Jo about bunting and Kate about history.
All in all it was a lovely day.

Media coverage
The party was a tremendous success, although many of us are a little tired today after a wonderful afternoon yesterday. Photos will be posted here and on Facebook soon. Meanwhile here is some of the media coverage we receieved:
When the party was in full swing we had a visit from BBC Radio Shropshire's Paul Shuttleworth, who spoke to Jo about bunting and Kate about archaeology. Click HERE to go to the programme; our section is on between 1:06.54 and 1:10.48.
Earlier in the day we had a visit from the Shropshire Star video team, who interviewed Kate and Ellie about the preparations. Our bit is at the end of the film, from about 9 minutes 20 seconds in:

Bunting evening photos
Here are a few images from last week's very successful bunting-making evening, which was held at the Foresters Arms.
Jo had already cut out triangles from the fabric which Kate had bought, and had sewn over the ends. The main task was to thread all of the flags together using baler twine...
...of course baler twine only comes in short lengths, so we then had to tie all the bits together. Some people had done 'red-white-blue' whereas others had done 'blue-white-red', but after a bit of thought we managed to work it out!
We then stretched out the bunting down the length of the pub car park - we probably have a good 40 metres or so.
So now less than a week to go, and more preparations in the meantime.

Bunting evening
On Wednesday evening, 20th April, we will be having a 'bunting party' in the Forester's Arms, on the High Street.
Jo has already cut and sewn most of the fabric triangles, and Wednesday will see a group of us string the bunting onto the string. Hopefully we will have enough! Home-made bunting is all part of the spirit of the street party - which is just over a week away!

Invitation to the party
We have now posted an invitation through everyone's doors, and a few responses have already been received. Please do reply by the 1st of April so that we can get a realistic idea of numbers.
Many thanks!

Preparations now begin in earnest
We had our Committee Meeting and the public meeting on Sunday, and many thanks to everyone who attended and made a contribution. We now have an excellent idea of how the party is going to take shape - and lots of good suggestions for games, activities, food and decorations.
Before we do much more we will have to find out how many people are coming and we will really need to know numbers before the end of March. We'll post an 'invitation' through people's doors later this week asking for definite numbers (We need to know this for the insurance and as part of our permission, as well as helping us with the organisation).
More information will be posted soon!

Party meetings this Sunday
This is just a quick reminder that there will be a public meeting on Sunday 6th March. This will take place on the corner of Barkers' Court and Station Road. The photograph below shows the same location as it was 27 years ago! Some more historic images can be found on the gallery page.
There will also be a committee meeting beforehand, details to be confirmed. Some of us may also visit the Foresters' Arms after the public meeting for refreshment. Kate and Ellie will also post reminder notices through peoples' doors this evening.
Finally, today the Official Royal Wedding Website was launched... only two months after ours!
